The Erised may silence all doubting tongues where the Ukrainian music scene is concerned.

When you think of Ukraine, music may not be the first thing that comes to mind. You may think of ‘many’ things, but music may seldom appear in that thought bank. But after the substantial praise, features and approval from the likes of Vogue, Wonderland, BBC 1Xtra and CMU Approved, this five piece electronic band ‘The Erised’ may silence all doubting tongues where the Ukrainian music scene is concerned. Signed to Drum & Bass Label Med SchoolThe Erised’ have taken artistry, live music and vocals to another unexpected dimension.

The Erised officially takes a stand and makes you refocus your attentions…

Introducing themselves to the music scene with their impressive 2015 debut release, the “Desire” EP, included their popular “Pray” and “It’s Over“, instantly spring-boarding their European following and grabbed the attention of international support. And now ‘The Erised’ are set to unveil their debut album, ‘Room 414’, encapsulating the band’s maturity and solidity through an emotional narrative that is supported by exceptionally high quality production.

The juxtaposition of Sonya’s trademark voice together with a very enigmatic instrumental seduce the listener to hang on to each magnetic chorus. You need only listen to In My Car to see how far Sonya has vocally come along. Though there are at times the hints of some added R&B and grime influences ‘The Erised’ have amalgamated the best of each member’s abilities to create something interestingly definitive.

Though there may be many artists and bands that could be put forward to represent Ukraine’s creative scene. This band confirms that we should keep our eyes on the Ukrainian music scene from here on. ‘The Erised’ officially takes a stand and makes you refocus your attentions, leaving the question in an uninformed mind that ‘’if ‘The Erised’ is what came out of Ukraine, what else is going on there?” Not to overtly praise this band too early on in their career but without blowing too many trumpets at any one time, for those that are avid fans of the fusion of vocals, pop, rock and the occasional more phantom, electronic, downtempo, then ‘The Erised’ have not just arrived they have shattered every door.
