With jewellery pieces that can make any girl go green with envy, the jewellery label KATTRI is turning heads with their creative force Amanda Gerbasi taking lead. Based in Oxford, UK this label has a passion for art and design that has transcended into Amanda’s gorgeous creations, that are featured in Vogue and numerous jewellery magazines. KATTRI’s gems shone brighter than ever during London Fashion Week, with their showcase at Somerset House Exhibition not to mention Florence Deschamps showroom during Paris Fashion Week. Although Amanda’s is constantly designing and travelling around DIFORM managed to sneak a quick chat with the designer.

When did your love affair with jewellery begin?

AG: My families on both sides are really into jewellery and this has put me in contact with it from an early age.  I think it was when I was around 13, during a family trip to Minas Gerais (a state in Brazil rich in gemstones) when my parents bought me some aquamarine that it really started. I designed my first pieces then.

How important is it for you to keep KATTRI’s metals & gems conflict free?

AG: Part of the reason I chose to use Brazilian gemstones is because it minimises the negative impact of mining and being Brazilian it just makes sense.  With the metals however it is more difficult and unfortunately not something I can pursue at the moment but it is definitely something I plan to do.

Tell us about your inspirational Great Grandmother Josefa?

AG: Josefa immigrated to Brazil with her family at the beginning of last century.  She used to source and buy gemstones, which she would then take to client’s homes to design bespoke jewellery pieces for them.  She managed to make a good living from this becoming the first working-woman of my family.

What’s one piece of Jewellery you can’t live without?

AG: It has to be the Quadrant ring.  The design is so pure it’s really hard to beat! It completely embodies the label’s aesthetic of achieving maximum visual impact with few elements.

You’ve completed a few degrees, which one was your favourite?

AG: Well, I didn’t complete Architecture but I really enjoyed the artistic side of it and although my Languages degree was really nice I wish I had studied something like Fine Arts or Product Design.

Where can we purchase KATTRI jewellery?

AG: Through our eshop at and from mid april you can find a selection of pieces at KABIRI (London), at Imihwa (Taipei, Tawain) and at Myriam Giuliani Couros (São Paulo, Brazil).  We are currently in talks with further stockists.

With such stunning work it’s no wonder KATTRI has already won the hearts of the fashion world, with starlets such as Pixie Lott rocking Amanda’s pieces. With her collection Geometry the KATTRI crew headed to Paris to shot the collection and soon after Amanda went to work on her new silver collection in Brazil. With her latest collection drawing on minimalistic inspirations, each piece has been carefully thought-out with rings taking 5-6 months development. Soon to conquer a fine jewelry collection in 2014, KATTRI is definitely one label to keep your eye on.
