As cliché as it may sound, when we as the voyeurs look at fashion, our eyes speak before our mouths do, therefore for a young designer, it is important to have a line that speaks through more than the collection itself and permits for you to see into the mind of the designer, and of course, their vision. And when the runway shows are usually over as soon as they have started our eyes need to convince us of the value of remembering that brand. And A-Jane’s SS19 collection produced exactly that value.

With a background in New Music Composition from the University of Freiburg in Germany, A-JANE’s collection draws its inspiration from her innate passion for music, a collection that exemplifies the designers’ transition from Neue Musik to New fashion with a collection entitled ‘Repetition’, focused on the aesthetics behind the study of repetition.

The collection can be compared to as contemporary 60’s. Feeling retrospective, or if you were to imagine one of the 60’s greats teleporting to this generation, then returning brimming with ideas stemmed from all they had gathered from their time spent in 2018, A-JANE’s collection is a complex fusion of thought expressionism and Neue Musik, where design challenges you.

The designers desire to strip the mainstream norm in her approach to design, incorporate her knowledge of the arts and music, and give you a snapshot into the thoughts of the designer, created a runway presentation that not only perpetuated abstract forms but allowed for you to take away something personal from the designer herself. And what was loved about this collection was the personal touches, from the cuffs to the accessories, to the androgyny in some of the pieces, became a statement that marked a new signature for this designer.
