Deanna Devore – New Single ‘Lately’
In today’s modern society, we have an obsession with the idea of meeting someone via online dating, as it caters to the possibility of a future romantic relationship partner. With a seemingly endless plethora of ways to connect and meet with potential partners, there’s an increasing number of relationships that actually fail due to insecurities within one or both partners. However, the truth we need to realize in any of these romantic relationships is that we all live with insecurities. Some of these are rooted deeply within our subconscious mind, which likely stemmed from an experience during childhood. Others may be the result of having our hearts broken more times than we’d prefer to count. Some relationships can develop into a very toxic environment, as one partner may project their deepest insecurities onto the other. It’s no secret that our romantic relationships are mirrors of how we feel about ourselves; a reflection of our own self-worth. By loving ourselves enough to be vulnerable in our insecurities and sharing them with others, it would open the doors to a much brighter world with open hearts. As we learn to love our own uniqueness, flaws and all, so can we love others and celebrate each other’s individuality with a hug, a high five or a fist bump. As part of the human species, we are connected in far more ways than one could possibly ever imagine should we choose to live by opening our hearts and our minds. In her latest single ‘Lately’, Deanna Devore plunges into the depths of an emotional rollercoaster ride with her signature neo-soul sound.
We previously featured her EP ‘Half and Half’, which proved to solidify her place as a musician whose ability could span a multitude of genres. Continuing to see success with her EP by releasing her newest single ‘Lately’, which is currently available worldwide. Seeping with a seductive yet mellow piano and clean guitar melodies, a sensuously pulsating rhythm, and velvety vocals highlighting the featured singer’s impressive vocal range, Devore’s new single provides an alluring neo-soul track, showcasing her unique and fresh production abilities as well as her mature musicianship. When asked about the inspiration behind her new single, Devore replies, “The song is about a relationship that doesn’t consistently feel secure. It goes back and forth, up and down and it’s about the emotional rollercoaster ride of that until it ultimately ends.” Featuring a mystery vocalist who cannot yet be announced, she says, “I hadn’t initially planned on featuring a singer on it but then after I recorded the music and my vocals, the thought popped up in my head – what about if a male R&B vocalist sang the lead? So I found an amazing singer and it was the best decision I made. I hope my music can bridge the gap for fans of all genres and be appealing to a variety of people.” Performing all of the instruments on the track and also being self-produced, Devore continues to be celebrated for her remarkable musicality, and ‘Lately’ is yet another indication of what to expect in 2020.
Deanna Devore has seen success performing to sold-out venues and festivals across the map, such as Summerfest, CMJ, NXNE, and 80/35. She has also had the pleasure of opening for renowned artists including Jamie Cullum, Bonobo, and SG Lewis, as well as Raveena, Mother Mother, and Yoke Lore. The composer has recently explored more commercial work, where her work can be heard in podcasts, feature films, and even a Starbucks ad and I am sure you will agree that this collaboration on the latest single only adds to the catalogue of her incredible work.
