From double denim to adorable fluffy headpieces, Copenhagen Fashion Week had us wanting to update our wardrobes. We have recapped our major highlights at Copenhagen fashion week, starting off with the ever-so-cool By Malene Birger. Since the labels creation, this international brand has gone from strength to strength. With an envious approach to design, each piece is crafted to perfection right down to the seam. Recently Malene Birger was made an ambassador for UNICEF Denmark, in this venture she created a bag and t-shirt line where 100% of the profits were donated to children in need around the world! If you are not already following this incredible fashion label make sure to via her social media links Facebookand Instagram.
The best thing about fashion week is seeing all the group shows of emerging talent. Our previous article on Designers’ Nest Awards was only one of the few group shows at Copenhagen Fashion Week. Fashion Collection CPH is another platform for designers who specialise in hand crafted and sustainable fashion design. The runway presentation had 8 designers contributing to the group showcase. DI-FORM’s top favourite were Danish designer Sara Storm, whose futuristic designs enticed our fashion appetite. From sleek cuts mixed with street wear inspired pieces, she definitely made a splash on the runway.
Following the trend of funky designs was Nana Nielsen another designer in the runway show. Her collection had a strong attitude, similar to the boldness of KATZ designs as models sported oversized tracksuits and jackets with the logo NANA written across. Definitely one to keep your eye on this year! Make sure to re-visit these designers via Fashion Collective CPH’s instagram here.
Nicklas Skovgaard was one of the collections we were eager to see début at Copenhagen Fashion Week. The newly created label plays with high-quality and old Nordic materials such as lambs wool and fox fur. Each design was in a neutral colour knit moulded into sagging pants, coats and dresses. He added an accent of colour with fur, with fluffy headbands in a deep navy and vibrant pops of orange that covered sleeves to vests. Nicklas closed the show with a long fur vest with polar opposite colours on each side.
Topping off our highlights from the event is Mads Nørgaard, their funky and vibrant energy is always refreshing on the catwalk. The fashion label prides themselves on their endeavour for being “Dedicated to put focus on what we believe in we turn up the volume and speak our mind.” (See their write up on Copenhagen Fashion Week here) The unisex collection had electric furry coats in bubbly pink and models showcased very well styled cohesive outfits. The overall attitude of the collection oozed “cool” from the beanies to the closing women’s pant suit, Mads Nørgaard nailed it!
