What does Pippa Middelton, Gwyneth Paltrow and Sarah Jessica Parker have in common? The love for design artistry of Nonoo. Misha Nonoo debuted her womenswear label in 2011 at New York Fashion week, where she presented her vision of a sophisticated urbanite and reflected on her love for Britain where she was raised. This budding designer has a multicultural heritage that makes her truly unique with a Iran father and British mother, Misha grew up in Bahrain before heading to London.

Misha’s designs present her love for all things British and her astute attention to detail in tailoring and cuts from her work at a local atelier in the prestigious Savile Row. These experiences harboured a deep understanding of detail and to create pieces that exude high quality, which is why her garments are all made in Manhattan, New York. With brand values like this, there is no wonder why Bergdorf Goodman’s Linda Fargo loves Misha Nonoo’s pieces along with retailers Neiman Marcus, Harvey Nichols.

Misha wanted to know the business side of the fashion industry to help boost her understanding of her label, as she said “I’d always known I wanted to work in fashion, and I always wanted to have my own label. I really thought about the fact that I probably needed to go to school and study the business part, because that was what I was much more lacking in than having a design idea.” (Teen Vogue: Julia Rubin Read full article here) It was this different approach to design that lead her to study at the London’s European Business school and then to the enchanting city of Paris where she attended the Ecole Supérieure du Commerce Extérieur. This unconventional approach to fashion has made one of the many reasons why Misha’s designs are praised and loved by many style icons.

Recently in 2013 Misha was a finalist in the CFDA/Vogue fashion fund with 9 other finalists for their emerging-design initiative program. Her latest Spring Summer 2014 collection is a testament to skill and her labels evolution, taking inspiration on a collbration with abstract artist Gerard Richter who specialised in blurred photography and smudge vibrant paint art. Which was seen in the textiles on the pieces that walked the runway, with tailored designs that provoked a fresh perspective tapping into a strong feminine look.
