Accomplishing many design feats under the age of 30 is an incredible sight, with the young designer having met with America’s Vogue queen Anna Wintour. When speaking to Kate Waterhouse for SMH Australia he shared his experience with the fashion icon “It was quite surreal. It was like meeting the Queen in a way, but she was great. She was very pragmatic about her approach to meeting a new designer and asking me about the context of my brand, how long I’d been established, and where the product had been made. She was very interested in the construction, and made the comment that it was really well made. She has a very acute eye; you could tell she was taking everything in.”(Read more on Dion Lee at SMH here)
With his designs making waves internationally, there is no stopping the Dion Lee movement. Jennifer Lawrence was spotted wearing his iconic Sail Tuck Jacket with a Michael Kors dress, along with fellow Australian rising rap star Iggy Azalea. But these aren’t the only two on the list of celebrities who love his designs, you can see Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas sporting his designs and pop goddess Lady Gaga is a huge fan of the designer. The list goes on and on, but that’s not all his designs have been in Vogue and numerous other fashion glossies.

With overwhelming success Dion Lee won the Woolmark International Prize in 2012, with an outstanding design and video which he described to Vogue Fashion Journalist Liam McKessar as “the garment submitted for the International Woolmark Prize was designed around the construction of felt and the concept of interlocking fibers. I wanted the film to mirror this concept; with two inverted characters that interplay like positive and negative film.”(Read the full interview with Dion Lee at Vogue) His Woolmark creations picture below, demonstrated Lee’s understanding of material’s movement, using his trademark 3D filter cut as seen on the left
