With New York fashion week underway emerging designers were able to showcase their designers to an international audience. The hectic fashion storm produced so many memorable runway shows with Alexander Wang and Victoria Beckham making headlines worldwide, with their awe-inspiring collections. But the talented budding designers managed to make a chic ripple with their pieces walking the runways in Lincoln Centre. The Asia Fashion Collectionor their known acronym AFC is a incubation project, that looks to make the fashion industry grow and thrive in Asia. The sponsors and creators of the AFC are Vantan and PARCO, who let the Taiwan Textile Federation and Hong Kong Trade Development Council select outstanding emerging designers to participate in the event.

The finalists for the show held at the Salon in Lincoln Centre, were R.Shemiste from Korea, Austin W from Taiwan, Hong Kong designer Hang along with designer labels Is and Sei. Austin Wu stood out among the many others at AFC, the 24 year old’s label titled “Austin W” grabbed instant attention with it’s simplistic and stream cut lines. When Focus Taiwan spoke to Austin about the experience he said “he was very excited about his first participation in one of the world’s four major fashion weeks, an experience that allowed him to see the differences in creativity between the Western and Oriental worlds.” (See the full Focus Taiwan review of the collection here)
